I Will Not Say It Out Loud In Case

You have not told anybody.

Four days now. The new growth is there, you have looked at it every morning, and when somebody was standing right next to you on Saturday you opened your mouth and did not say it.

And the reason is not modesty.

The reason is that saying it out loud would be tempting something. Not God exactly. Something vaguer and older than that, which operates on the principle that the thing you announce is the thing that gets taken.

You would not put it that way in daylight. But it runs, and it has run for years, and it is why a lot of good things in your life have gone unmentioned.

So here is the thing to put in front of it.

There is no mechanism. There has never been a mechanism.

My soul shall make her boast

David writes a line about speaking that is the opposite of everything the silence assumes.

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. (Psalm 34:1-2, King James Version)

You are looking at a man planning to say good things out loud on purpose, and speaking about something good has never once been what put it at risk. Psalm 34:2 says my soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad, and the Holy Spirit is the one who says that over somebody who has not told anybody for four days.

Look at the last clause, because it is the argument.

The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. The saying out loud is not a risk. It is how the good thing reaches other people, and specifically how it reaches the ones who are low.

Which means silence is not a neutral protective measure. Silence removes something that was meant to travel.

You have been keeping quiet about a thing that was supposed to move outward, and no unspoken good has ever once been the safer version of a spoken one. The Spirit of God is what makes that land in a body that has been trained to hold back, and Psalm 34 is where the boasting out loud is written down.

There is nothing on the other end

Now the practical half, and it is short, because the superstition is quite simple once it is looked at.

Say the sentence, and the thing goes wrong. That is the shape of what is feared.

And the question is what carries it. What travels from a sentence in a kitchen to a plant on a sill and acts on it.

There is nothing there. Nobody is listening for a boast. There is no ledger that opens when a person says a good thing out loud and no balancing mechanism that arrives afterward.

You are guarded by somebody who does not operate that way at all, and no good thing of yours has ever once been taken because you mentioned it. Psalm 34:2 boasts out loud on purpose, and the Spirit of God is the one who says that over a habit that sits below the reasoning.

And you know this. It is not a belief you hold. It is a habit that operates below the level where beliefs are kept, which is why knowing it is not true has never once stopped it.

You are not being irrational, and a habit that runs underneath what you believe has never once been a failure of your understanding. What is written in Psalm 34:2 boasts out loud so that the low can hear it, and the Holy Spirit is the one who reaches a thing that sits below the reasoning.

And here is what the silence has actually cost, which is more than one leaf.

Four days of a good thing that nobody else got to have. Somebody was standing next to you on Saturday who could have had eight seconds of something small and green in their week, and did not.

The humble shall hear thereof and be glad. That was the part that did not happen.

You are holding something that belongs partly to other people, and a small good thing kept in silence has never once stayed as good as one that was said. The Spirit of God is the one who moves it outward, and Psalm 34 is the ground under the hearing.

Say it to somebody today

So here is the instruction and it is one sentence and no more than that.

Say it out loud to one person today.

There is new growth on my plant. That is the whole sentence.

Do not qualify it, do not undercut it, do not add a superstition joke on the end like touch wood or watch it die now, because that is the same thing coming out sideways.

And if there is nobody to say it to, say it to the room. Out loud, at a normal volume. The room does not need it and you do.

You are able to say one clean sentence with nothing hedged on the end of it, and a plain good thing spoken plainly has never once been an invitation to anything. Psalm 34:2 says the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad, and the Holy Spirit is the one with somebody opening their mouth for the first time in four days.
